I don't think so. It's slower than the Notes Client, that's for sure. But if you compare against other *webmail* clients (hotmail, for example) is not much slower, and you have to consider that iNotes has much more features.
We use it on our company as a backup (when we don't our PC with Notes near) and we don't have any problems with it.
The biggest issue I see with iNotes is that it uses too much javascript. Because of this, the browser takes longer to show the webpages, and makes it too slow on old machines. I hope things will get better on version 6 of iNotes(note: AFAIK version 6 has not been yet released, it will come with Domino 6.1).
BTW, notice that the slowness has nothing to do with the server being overloaded (the original post asked about server performance). I can't really say anything about it, though, because we don't use iNotes so much, sorry.
